Discover the Magic Behind the Bubble Room’s Famous Bubble Bread Recipe
The Bubble Room is more than just a restaurant—it’s a kaleidoscope of nostalgia, flavors, and unforgettable dining experiences. Nestled on the whimsical island of Captiva, Florida, this iconic eatery is known as much for its eccentric decor as it is for its legendary menu. Among the top stars of that menu? The indulgently cheesy, crispy, crave-worthy Bubble Bread.
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of dining at The Bubble Room, chances are you’ve never forgotten that first bite of Bubble Bread. It’s one of those appetizers that makes people return again and again. And for those who can’t hop down to Captiva, recreating it at home is a culinary must.
A Whimsical Trip to the Past
The Bubble Room opened its doors in 1979 and quickly became one of Florida’s most beloved dining destinations. What began as a small family-run spot evolved into a full-blown retro paradise. The restaurant is decked out in toys from the 1930s and 1940s, vintage holiday décor, antique trains, and theatrical memorabilia—all of which create a wildly fun, one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
Dining at The Bubble Room is like stepping into a time capsule. It’s loud, quirky, colorful, and joyful. Whether you’re seated beneath twinkling Christmas lights in July or watching a model train whiz by overhead, it’s impossible not to smile. But while the decor steals your attention, it’s the food that keeps you coming back.

Ingredients
- 1 large loaf of Italian Bread
- 1 jar of Marie’s Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 TBL garlic powder
- 2 TBL dried parsley
- 2 TBL Hungarian paprika
- ½ cup blue cheese crumbles
- ¾ cup premium Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
Instructions
Cut bread in half, long ways.
Mix the room temperature butter with the garlic powder. Evenly spread half of the garlic butter mixture on each half of the Italian bread. Bake the buttered bread on a parchment lined sheet, for 10 minutes at 350 degrees, or until lightly browned.
While the bread is in the oven, mix the Marie’s Blue Cheese Dressing with the blue cheese crumbles.
Remove the toasted bread from the oven and allow it to cool (about 5 minutes). Spread the Dressing and crumble mixture equally on each half of the Italian bread. Make sure to spread the mixture all the way to the edges of the bread.
Sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan cheese on each half of the bread, then the paprika, and then the parsley flakes.
Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees, until the bread is “bubbly”. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 2 minutes. Cut into individual pieces and serve.
